Why Camping Gear X

Camping Gear X was built for people who genuinely love the outdoors.

Not just the highlight reel of adventure, but the real experience of it. Early mornings at camp, long miles on the trail, gear testing in bad weather, learning through failures, and constantly improving the setup for the next trip.

We are outdoor people first.

Camping Gear X was created by DIYers, makers, campers, and backpackers who understand what good gear actually means in the real world because we build and use it ourselves.

As the team behind DutchWare Gear, we’ve spent years designing and manufacturing cottage outdoor gear right here in the USA. We understand the value of quality materials, thoughtful design, and gear that performs when it matters most.

Camping Gear X was created to bring together the products, brands, and gear we personally believe in and use ourselves.

At the center of that story is Dutch, a 2003 Appalachian Trail thru-hiker whose passion for lightweight backpacking and hammock camping helped shape the direction of modern cottage outdoor gear. Alongside Phi and the DutchWare team, Camping Gear X was built from the same mindset that has always driven us:

Build better gear. Support great brands. Help more people enjoy the outdoors.

We also believe the outdoor industry thrives because of small innovators, independent makers, and cottage manufacturers who truly care about what they create. That’s why Camping Gear X focuses heavily on trail-tested gear, USA-made products, and brands built by people who actually spend time outside.

Whether you’re a first-time camper, weekend backpacker, thru-hiker, hammock camper, or lifelong outdoor enthusiast, our goal is simple:

Help you find gear you can trust for every adventure ahead.
